If you are superstitious you might be hiding in the closet right now with a mattress over your head!  I’m opting to call it my ‘party’ day, and because I’m at a place I love to be… the set of  “Hart of Dixie”,   Life couldn’t be any better!  Since the Mayans thought the world was going to end today, I thought I should make the most of my day.
Dress in wonderful clothes and wardrobe
Be somewhere cool and hip
Take lots of fun pictures to remember the day!
Just a side note:  do you remember where you were on:  1.1.01?, 2.2.02?, 3.3.03? 4.4.04?, 5.5.05?….  It’s just another day in your life!  ENJOY!

My Genevieve

My beloved dog Genevieve will soon be 12 years old.  She was one of my birthday presents when I turned 5 years old.   My parents had promised me a puppy for my birthday, and we even named her before we took her home!  She was a rare find, as that year the Bichon Frise breed had won the top prize at the American Kennel Club.  She was the last to be bread by a couple in Joliet Illinois.  Today, she still looks fabulous and is a dedicated companion and great dog.  You can see by the picture that I had quite the imagination even at the age of 5 as we had breakfast together!  Genevieve now lives in California with me, and she flies back to Indiana occasionally.  She has become the ultimate “California girl”, because she doesn’t like to go outside when it rains and avoids all types of puddles when necessary.  Sometimes, I wonder how she lived in Indiana all those years.  I wish she could live forever, in dog years she is really getting up there!  However, I am thankful that she is still healthy and happily living in Los Angeles with me.

My love of Jewelry

As a little girl I knew one thing, that I liked my BLING!   No kidding, at the ripe age of 3 ½ I realized that I needed to wear a ring on every finger that’s why God gave you 10 fingers!    Soon after, I discovered these amazing oversized plastic watches that were sold at a well-known national hamburger joint.   With a purchase of a ‘kids meal’ you could easily own one of these and I needed one to complete my look!   I can be seen in our family portrait taken in late November 1999 with a ring on every finger, fortunately the plastic watch was missing because the photographer carefully coaxed me into letting her wear my watch.  (Thank God because that watch would have taken center stage in our family photo).  Soon after my parents realized my affection for jewelry, they began purchasing more expensive pieces to replace my hamburger joint watch and costume jewelry.  To this day, I love jewelry, and some of my favorite pieces are vintage.  Jewelry gives life to any wardrobe, and it defines the person behind the particular piece.  I’ve included a picture of me on my 16th birthday, with one of my most beloved gifts a ring!  I had admired it in a family owned jewelry store when I was visiting Indiana this past spring.  It was a complete shock that I received it on top of all the other beautiful birthday gifts.  I will never forget opening it at a breakfast diner in the downtown Chicago area of Lincoln Park.  The ring I will always cherish, but the memory is priceless.
